Breede River Emotional Awareness Development
These services rendered consist of the following social and counselling services:
- individual and group counselling;
- interventions with families regarding dynamics and family structure;
- psychological support (refer where necessary);
- parenting support;
- crèche and afterschool management and support;
- support to parents with children who experience learning difficulties/disabilities, behavioural challenges, and school dynamics.
- Ad hoc support and guidance as and when necessary.
- Referal to several specialist services such as Social Workers (statutory), Play Therapists, and Doctors.
René Best, director of b.r.e.a.d. completed her four years Pastoral Trauma Counselling studies at the end of 2023.
Clinic Bus
A mobile healthcare unit (bus) visits the farm every Thursday.
A mobile healthcare unit (bus) visits the farm every Thursday. Staffed with skilled professionals, it offers a range of essential healthcare services, from check-ups and screenings to consultations and minor treatments.
This convenient service ensures that our employees have easy access to quality healthcare without having to leave the farm. Whether it's a routine check-up or addressing a health concern, the medical bus is here to support our employees' physical well-being, promoting a healthier and happier workforce.

The Ferial and Marion After Care Centre
The Aftercare Centre adds value in many ways to the educational and social support on Saratoga Fruit Estate.
Project aims
- research for class projects and tasks,
- assistance with homework,
- running of CAMI programme,
- Keeping of attendance register of children attending other activities such as b.r.e.a.d. group, art & music classes, and general supervision. (5) Support with reading, spelling, basic counting and mathematics.

- Ms Alvania Ayford
- Monday-Thursday afterschool support in the afternoons from 14:30-17:30 and assistance to grade 6-11 learners on the farm – including research for class projects and tasks, assistance with homework, running of CAMI programme, keeping of attendance register of children attending other activities such as b.r.e.a.d. group, art & music classes, and general supervision
- From time to time meeting with school teachers to discuss learning problems of children
- Ms is working as teacher at the afterschool facility of Saratoga Fruit Estate on Mondays-Thursdays afternoons from 14:30-17:30. The Grade R learners are in her class and she assists with the foundation phase and primary school homework and projects.• Grade 1-3 learners need intense help and support with reading, spelling, basic counting and mathematics. She is therefore intensely involved with individual children, while the others continue with their homework.

At our farm, we understand the importance of providing a nurturing environment for both our youngest members and their caretakers.

Our baby creché and toddler's creché offer a haven of safety and care for the little ones while their parents work on the farm.
Ultimately, our crechés are an integral part of our farm's commitment to supporting families. By offering reliable childcare and nutritious meals, we empower parents to pursue their livelihoods while prioritizing their children's well-being.

They develop a sense of belonging within a supportive community of fellow dancers and instructors who nurture their talents and encourage their growth.
Dance play: an important role in the socialization of children. Dance provides entertainment and serves as a way to relieve tension. It is a fun and great way to meet new friends and develop essential social skills through interaction with other students.
The dance fosters teamwork, communication, trust and cooperation. Dance overcomes shyness or awkwardness in social situations and reduces the fears associated with being in a group and performing in front of an audience
